Join our workshop on Standards of Sustainability: Governing Labor and Nature.

Join our workshop on Standards of Sustainability: Governing Labor and Nature. We bring together scholars working on transnational regulation, environmental governance, and labor standards to explore how sustainability and labor norms are shaped through public, private, and hybrid forms of standardization.

Over two workshop days, we will discuss how sustainability standards govern fields such as finance, judicial decision-making, and supply chain law, and how global standard-setters interact with local addressees. In dialogue with Professor Tim Bartley’s, we will also look at how standards are adopted, contested, or reinterpreted in different contexts — from community governance and indigenous rights to corporate, state, far-right, and semi-authoritarian resistance to environmental and social regulation.

The workshop offers doctoral and postdoctoral researchers a forum to present and discuss their work within the broader research agenda of the Research Training Group.
